Getting Ready for Spring

We’ve talked about how summer is just around the corner and things you can do to entertain the kids. But before summer arrives, we have spring. Spring it the time for new beginnings, fresh starts, and new life.  Birds are chirping, bees are buzzing, flowers and trees are blooming, and the grass is getting green.

It is the perfect time to de-clutter your space too! Use the fresh sunshine days of spring to get ready for summer and all that comes with it. If you can’t think of what to do, we’ve created a brief list to get you started.  And the best part of it – it can include the whole family!

1. Closet Clean Out

Have everyone clean their own closet out. Time to pack away the winter wools and set aside the stuff you haven’t worn forever. Take those things you haven’t worn (and you know you’re not ever going to) and give it to a charitable organization or the local shelter. Your old clothes will be appreciated and needed by others.

2. House Cleaning

Now the time for deep cleaning folks! Get the broom, mop, and rags out. This is when you take down the curtains and wash them or have them dry cleaned. Pull the furniture out and vacuum under all of it. And take this time to get the whole family out in the garage for cleaning and organizing!  You know everyone had a part in that getting cluttered over the winter.

3. Hard Work Earns Outside Time

After you have spent the day as a family cleaning from top to bottom, from the deepest part of the closets to under the furniture, give yourselves a reward and head outside! You probably found the lawn games you enjoyed last summer and now is as good a time as any to see who still rules at Bocce, croquet, horse shoes, or Rollors. Spring is in the air and a great time to get into the nitty gritty of working around the house, but it is also a good time to enjoy the fresh air, sunshine, and the family.
