Planning an Awesome Birthday Party on a Budget
Are you looking to plan a birthday for you kid? Do you have a tight budget? Don’t worry! Planning a great and fun birthday on a budget is easy to do. It just requires a bit of extra planning and creativeness. Here are some great tips on planning the perfect budget friendly birthday party.
- Picking a venue: The most cost efficient place to host your party is probably your own home but for some of us that may not be possible. But don’t fret! There are other less costly venues out there; you just have to do your research. If the weather tends to be nice during birthday time than planning a party at the park is a great idea. All you have to do is rent the gazebo by the park and kids have a whole playground to run around in. Entertainment included! You can also look into your local church. Many of them will allow you to rent a room free of charge or at a low cost within their building. Another option is asking a family member who has a larger home if they would be willing to host it. Just let them know you will take care of set up and clean up and they won’t have to worry about a thing.
- Shop at the dollar store: You will find great party supplies all for a dollar! Remember that your kid is not going to need their theme plastered on everything. So if your child is a big Thomas the train fan or you wanted to throw a Despicable Me party, many of the stores sell paper plates, utensils, plastic table covers and cups in various shades of colors that you can pick to best match with your theme. A dollar store is also a great place to pick up fun party favors.
- Entertainment: You don’t have to hire an expensive entertainer or even rent an expensive bounce house. Kids are pretty easy to entertain. You just have to have a few activities and let their creativity take control. Kids love art projects, so setting up an area where they can color or put together an art project is great idea. They also love games. Setting up various lawn games is also tons of fun. A great game to use is Rollors. Kids of all ages can play as its rules are easy to learn. What is even better about this game is that it is easy to pack up and store away while being virtually messy free. It will keep them occupied throughout the whole party!
- Food: Keep food to just finger foods and place the party during a time that isn’t right at dinner time or lunch time. It is also best, especially if you are dealing with younger kids to keep parties to a two to three hour maximum. Not only do you not have to worry about feeding everyone a huge platter but you also won’t have to worry about the large clean up after. Just make sure you have some munchies, drinks and of course a yummy birthday cake or cupcake – which you can easily on your own!
